Mehmet “Mo” Casey was born & raised in Baghdad, Iraq where he received a B.A. in English Literature & Linguistics. He experimented with translation/interpretation from English to Arabic & vice versa before he landed a Fulbright scholarship to teach Arabic at Rocky Mountain College in 2006. He spent 4 years on the Battlin’ Bear’s campus teaching, tutoring, writing in the college paper, & coordinating events in the cafeteria. During that time, he would often brainstorm with friends what some of the vacant properties could be.
In 2010, he did a brief stint working at Sears as a salesman on the electronics floor. In 2011, he began teaching English as a second language to international students at MSU-Billings and went on to spend 8 years on the Yellowjackets’ campus working as an instructor, tutor, coordinator of the program, interim director, and an admission/advising specialist. While working as a student advisor, he pursued and completed an M.S. in public relations from MSUB and became closely familiar with the College of Business majors because most of his advisees were majoring in business. He continued to be intrigued by the possibilities of what vacant buildings could look like or house for a tenant. He even considered opening a business but luckily landed a development director position with the Downtown Billings Alliance in 2019.
Between the comprehensive nature of that position and how we fared out of the 2020 pandemic, Mo gained extensive experience in the commercial real estate world. Coupled with his ongoing cravings to fill vacancies, he decided to pursue CRE as a profession and joined Century 21 Hometown Brokers in 2023.
Mo is a firm believer in giving back to the community, staying informed, and engaged. Mo currently serves on the Billings Chamber of Commerce’s DEI Network, Institute for Peace Studies, & Billings Depot. He’s also served on the United Campus Ministry, volunteered at the Yellowstone Soccer Association, & continues to volunteer at public speaking engagements.
